Ahoy there! Welcome to the awesome Comms drawer of CU Amiga's CUCD.
This directory does contain some material of interest to users who haven't
caught onto the comms revolution yet (don't own a modem etc) so don't be put
off by the title.
The Amiga Report directory contains every Amiga Report electronic magazine
ever made by Jason Compton to date. There's a wealth of information and
resources essentially at your fingertips. It's interesting to go back a
couple of years and see where the Amiga was at during that time.
The GoldED drawer is a complex and powerful text editor designed primarily
for Programmers. However, it's included here for the HTML-Heaven package
within the WWW Drawer. If you don't have a proper text editor, GoldED is
totally invaluable. It's also superb for electronic mail and such forth.
The WWW drawer has a brand new demo of a World Wide Web browser called Aweb.
It's a local only version which means it can't be actually used on the
Internet but it can be used to view HTML locally. There's a heap of it to
check out. Just click on the icon. The entire Oceania section of Daniel
Armours World Info '95 CD is included. John Kennedy has even lashed up a
nice home page and included some earlier articles of his. There's also an
excellent Imagine tutorial in HTML format again.
The ZeusDemo drawer is an interesting one. It needs to install to your hard
drive but after having done so, you end up with a real live BBS of
absolutely amazing preportions. Hundreds of doors and stuff to check out.
I'd be surprised if the Amiga community didn't gain a 100 BBSes after
checking this out.
The Thor drawer contains the Thor Internet/Fidonet Mail and News Browser.
It also will need to be extracted onto hard drive. It's even got a small
NewsGroup base so that non Internet users can see what all the fuss is
about. Thor is Shareware though there's no cripples applied to this version.
If you got an Internet account, you'd just have to alter some configurations
to go live.
For more/different information, again check out the CD instructions/contents
pages within the Magazine.
